Here is peek a TOTALLY radical 80's birthday invitation I was asked to do.
Who doesn't secretly miss teased bang, neon clothes and slap bracelets?
The circular 80's pin was stuck onto the card with a glue dot, and people used it to get into the roller rink.

We also did a save-the-date for this party, and a sticker to put on the back of the envelope to help make it obvious that it was a surprise.

We printed it on metal, and it is gonna look great!
I can't wait to get the finished product in the mail.
We had them drill two holes in the top, and Kathryn is going to hang it from a ribbon.

It's Christmas EVE!!

I wanted to show off my little family!
I hardly ever get around to doing my own card, but thanks for my dear friend Courtney, she made me sit down and do it!
She even gave me her own input on the design.
Loved her ideas!

I wanted to do a card, and a little "year-in-review", so I ended up doing them on two separate cards.
I clipped the cards together inside of the envelope, and I love how they turned out!

The Morris girls are absolutely gorgeous!
I've worked with Mandy before on Frannie's baby announcement, and it was fun to see how much she has grown up!

Mandy decided to go with a design that she saw on the Holiday Giveaway post here, but she wanted to make the colors a little more "christmasey".

Another one that I just had to share!
This family is always a joy to design for, and so easy to please.
I saw a design with a tri-fold on a site that I enjoy looking at for inspiration, and I and I loved it!
The Adams usually do a folded card, because they like to write a personal message in each, so the tri-fold was a perfect fit for them. They had plenty of room to write their message, and we were able to display their gorgeous photos from the Pied Piper.
I'm sure their recipients love getting the personal message!

We did make some changes to the back of the card, so that Tiffany could put a little message to their friends and family, and include their new address since they had moved in the past year. I loved the way it turned out.

I was flattered when Kathryn asked me to design her announcement for her darling little boy!

She wanted to have a little holiday, but not over do it. I was walking around a mall, and saw the saying "all is calm, all is bright" in a storefront window. I know we've all heard it over the years, but right at the moment I thought of the picture she wanted to use on her card, and it just worked perfectly!

Oh what fun it was to do this Holiday card!
I loved it.

Michelle is a dear friend of mine from college.
We were roommates our freshman year, and I'm pretty sure we watched the movie Dumb and Dumber together about 70 times that year.
Sad, but true.

She was married this year, in the most BEAUTIFUL wedding ceremony I've ever seen at The Four Seasons Resort, in Santa Barbara.

Her wedding pictures were darling, and we wanted to show them off a bit on her Holiday card, and play on the fact that they were married this year.

The card turned out perfectly!

What a fun card this was to work on!
My client contacted me wanting to do a special card for her little girl, here is an excerpt from her inquiry:

My husband and I were expecting our first child on February 16, 2011. I had some major complications and our daughter was born 9 weeks early, on December 16, 2010. We named her Greta Elizabeth and she was 3 lbs, 0.5 oz when she was born and really struggled. She was in a neonatal intensive care unit for 7 weeks. It was a really scary time with several instances in which we weren’t sure she was going to make it. She had to be transferred to a higher level NICU and had to endure multiple painful procedures. After her 6^th week in the NICU, she suddenly made a great turnaround. She started to really thrive, gain weight and just do really well. We were finally able to take her home. We had to be super careful with her for the few months after she went home to make sure she wasn’t exposed to germs/infection. She couldn’t go out into public until summertime and could only be around immediate family. However, since that time, she has done so great and has developed so much. Today she looks like a baby who didn’t have a rough start at all.

With everything this family endured in Greta's first months, a traditional baby announcement didn't happen, so her parents wanted to go out all on their Christmas card this year, dedicating the theme of the card to their sweet girl. They wanted to have both, a "holiday" message, and mention their gratitude for the miracles they witnessed in 2011.

I think we succeeded with this adorable folded card which showed the amazing transformation from Greta in the NICU, to Greta now. What an inspiring story, and what a fighter little Greta is. She must have a special mission to fulfill here on earth!

Monster Birthday Bash

A monster themed first birthday!

So fun!

My client, Julie sent me a link to this little monster party from the Pinwheel Lane shop on ETSY that had inspired her:

I loved it! I used their monster to inspire the design of my own monster vector for the card.

Julie wanted to stick with mostly green/orange/navy for her party.

Thought it might be fun to show how the front of this card evolved before I show the final product:

I never expect to see a perfectly developed card in the very first round of proofs. Creating the perfect card is a multi-step process.

The card design process generally goes something like this:

Step 1: First draft sent to client for viewing.

Step 2: Client gives thumbs up or down on design and/or picks favorite design (if you don't love the designs, we can come up with more designs from scratch!!).

Step 3: We work from clients favorite design, we look at different fonts, colors, pictures, sizing, patterns, etc.

Step 4: Final Polishing - last revisions leaving a beautiful card for your occasion!

I was asked by my husband, and his business partner to design a "referral card" for them to give to their current patients.

Not shown are the business card slits that we had cut into the bottom of the inside spread.
So, inserted on top of the "thank you" are business cards for current patients to give out.

Their referrals have seen quite an increase as of late, so it seems to be working.
The doctors always send a generous thank you gift in the mail, so if you are a current patient, and happy with the service you get when you visit their office, tell your friends!

My friend Courtney is throwing a baby shower for our mutual friend Kathryn and she asked me to design the announcement

Yellow & Gray are clearly in!

Everyone is asking for those colors.

I'm not complaining though - they look great together and make cute designs!

Courtney had gotten some great fabric from our friend Sally (the gal behind the etsy shop Tuft Love Fabric & the blog Abode-Casa-Home). It was a Chevron pattern in a golden yellow/gray. She's using it as the table runner at the shower and wanted the invite to coordinate. Here's a terrible pic of from Courtney's phone . . . but you get the idea.

What a precious girl she is.

Allison and I were sorority sisters in college, so it was fun to hear from her again.

She's still a hardcore Missouri Tiger fan, and so she wanted to tie that into her announcement.

We're pretty stingy with birthday parties around here.

You only get a "friend" party when you turn 5, 8, 12 & 16.

All the other year's you just get a low-key family party.

That said - it's Lily's BIG year.

I can hardly believe she is turning FIVE.

We've had many discussions on what her party theme would be.

It went from bunny, to mermaid, to strawberry and back to mermaid, and then

we finally settled on . . .

wait for it . . .

a rainbow/art party!

I was excited to use the rainbow colors in her card, so I'm not complaining!

She decided she didn't want boys at the party, and she really wants to do an art project at the party.

I have already had a couple of orders for the "boy" versions of the Child of God prints in the previous post so I thought I'd show at least one girl option!

Changing color scheme is easy, and as I have time I'll try and post some other color options.

These would sell for the same price as the others:

$20 per print for the 8x10

$25 per print for a 12x12

I made these two prints as a gift for my sweet friend Christy to put in her new baby boy's room.

I put them in a white gallery frame with a white mat.

I'll have to try and get a picture of them hanging in baby Mason's room!

If you want these for your home they are:

$15/each for a 5x7 size

$20/each for an 8x10 size

$25 per print for a 12x12

$25 per print for an 11x14

(e-mail for pricing on other sizes or for mounted canvas or metal prints)

Printed on matte linen photo paper and mounted on a board so it's stays perfect in the frame!

If you wanted a different color scheme I would charge $5 per print to change the colors.

Kimball's Baptism

One of the happiest baby shower announcement's I have EVER done!!

My dear friends Chris & Christy have been trying to adopt and were chosen by a sweet birth mother.

Their little boy is due July 1st!

We are throwing Christy a shower soon and we are just so excited for her to meet her little boy.

Christy has a classic style, so I wanted the announcement to match her personality.

Prior to being chosen to adopt she had mentioned in a blog post that all of her pain would

someday be "worth the wait", so I wanted to incorporate that sweet saying into the card.

Chris & Christy have been through so much to get to this point!

I'm working on a card for another person from out-of-state.

I was e-mailing her today and trying to describe the paper options.

I decided it would be good to put up some paper samples!

I apologize, but I don't know of a better way to do this.

I've taken pictures (really bad ones) of cards printed on the three types of paper I prefer.

The Holidays are here, and that means Holiday cards!

Have you sent yours out yet?

I think my family will be sending out Valentine cards again this year because I'm just too darn busy to think about designing my own card!!

If you haven't figured your own cards out yet, I might have a solution for you!

I did several different options for one client and so I have a couple of extra designs available, so I thought I'd put them up for grabs!

I'm giving away these card designs for free!

In addition, I will print the 5x7 cards on your choice of paper (linen, watercolor, or recycled) for only $1.15/card - envelopes included!

I would be happy to change the back side on either of the cards to have a 2 or 4 picture layout (i.e. if you want to put individual pictures of children, etc).

It only takes two days once they are finished to arrive at my doorstep, so you have plenty of time to get them mailed before Christmas. Shipping to my home and picking them up from me is free, If I'm am shipping elsewhere, there is a $10 charge.

Look at these new card shapes now available through my lab!I'm SOOOO excited about them!

I wish they had come out with them before I did my baby announcement for our little Benson.(that will be posted soon . . . )

They are a little more expensive than the traditional rectangle/square cards, but I think they are worth the additional cost for sure!

They are $1.70/per card.
I won't charge a design fee to the first person who orders one of these!

One of the options was reworked and turned into a baby announcement for Mabel!

It's easy to do that, so if you see one you like we can always rework it for your occasion.

I love it.

She suggested making the background black and I think it suited her style perfectly.

I did a baby shower announcement that I loved, but every time I keep uploading it to photobucket the colors look all bright and weird!

The colors in this card are brighter than the actual card too, so I'm not sure what is going on . . . but it's still cute nonetheless!

Valentine cards for sure.

I did make this card to attach to our neighbor gifts.

Printed it at Costco for only $.13/print.

Can't beat that.

Good news - I'm trying out a new printer for some lower cost cards.

I will get the first prints from them today.

I ordered two different cards from them for Dave's cousin.

I'm anxious to see how they look because it will give us more options!

Why does UPS never get to my house until at least 5:30!?!?

Been wasting time learning photoshop tricks and I'm loving this one.

I had taken pictures of Lily dancing in her beloved "spinning" dress (see previous post here) and I made these silhouettes today.

A fun way to capture the memory!

I think it would be fun to have a "dance party" for her 4th birthday and use these silhouettes on the invitation!

My next project is to try and get my little ones to cooperate for a photo so I can make a silhouette of their faces!
